Abstract: A Craniometric Analysis of Cranial Base Differences in Unicoronal Craniosynostosis

چکیده
METHODS: A collaborative protocol was developed by the PBM team, plastic surgery and anesthesia clinicians in 2016, which involved the pre-operative optimization of hemoglobin levels, the intraoperative use of tranexamic acid and CellSaverTM technology, as well as blood sparing operative techniques. Additionally, patients were preoperatively screened for altered coagulation including hypofibrinogenemia and von Willebrand’s disease. Prospective monitoring of these 17 patients in the intervention arm was collected. Retrospective data on 20 consecutive patients who underwent craniofacial surgery prior to the initiation of the program were used as a control group. The primary endpoint was the transfusion volume of blood products.

Abstract P39. Nasal Root Deviation in Unicoronal Craniosynostosis: A Craniometric Analysis of Early and Late Postoperative Outcomes
PURPOSE Current operative techniques for correcting unicoronal craniosynostosis (UCS) leave the nasal bones untouched, resulting in an unclear long-term impact on nasal root deviation. The purpose of this study is to quantify nasal root deviation in the preoperative and late postoperative setting in patients who have undergone conventional single-staged UCS correction. METHODS The authors per...
متن کاملBrain phenotypes in two FGFR2 mouse models for Apert syndrome.
Apert syndrome (AS) is one of at least nine disorders considered members of the fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) -1, -2, and -3-related craniosynostosis syndromes. Nearly 100% of individuals diagnosed with AS carry one of two neighboring mutations on Fgfr2. The cranial phenotype associated with these two mutations includes coronal suture synostosis, either unilateral (unicoronal synosto...
متن کاملDetermination of Cranial Index in Sagittal Synostosis using Artificial Intelligent Techniques
Background: At least one main suture of skull is closed prematurely in craniosynostosis; which may lead to different skull and face deformities and various types of child developmental delay. Increased postero-anterior diameter of skull is the main characteristic of sagittal craniosynostosis. Cranial index is the most important parameter for diagnosis and monitoring of children with this deform...
متن کاملImpact of Fronto-Orbital Advancement on Frontal Sinus Volume, Morphology, and Disease in Nonsyndromic Craniosynostosis.
BACKGROUND Fronto-orbital advancement for nonsyndromic craniosynostosis has been thought to injure frontal sinus buds, lead to chronic sinus disease, and influence final forehead shape. This study investigates the effect of fronto-orbital advancement in infancy on subsequent frontal sinus volume, morphology, and disease. METHODS The authors conducted a retrospective review of nonsyndromic cra...
